Pray-peration for a New Homeschool Year

In the busyness of the back-to-school season, we must not forget the most valuable and beneficial thing we can do for ourselves and our children. Use these 5 Back-to-School Prayers from Lifeway Women to complete your pray-peration for a new homeschool year!

Prayer 1: Treasure These Things
When children are young, parents often long for a day when their children are more independent, only to wish for the simpler days of youth when they grow older. Ask God to help you appreciate the age of your children today and the time you get to spend teaching them this year.

“Then [Jesus] went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart” (Luke 2:51).

Prayer 2: Wisdom
Beyond academics, pray that you and your children may grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior. Pray that you both may have the desire to learn new things and that you may have wisdom as you seek to raise your children to glorify Him above all.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you” (James 1:5).

Prayer 3: Stature
Although good grades are a worthy goal, they are not as important as developing in love, joy, kindness, and humility. Ask God to help you pursue godliness and become a reflection of Him because your children will be a reflection of you.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. (Galatians 5:22-23).

Prayer 4: Favor with God
Thank God for blessing you with your family and children you can teach. Trust God to watch over your lives and pray that your children may develop a personal relationship with Christ, so they can become all that God created them to be.

“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old, they will not turn from it” (Proverbs 22:6).

Prayer 5: Favor with People
From your family to your church family, Bible study, homeschool co-op, friends, and more, pray for the other people who impact your life and the lives of your family. In addition, pray for those who do not know Christ yet, and ask God that your family may be a witness to the amazing love of God.

“And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man” (Luke 2:52).
