5 Ways to Reduce Stress

As a homeschooler and a parent, you’re naturally busy; however, sometimes that busyness can take over emotionally and physically and lead to stress. To help you relax, ease your mind, and keep your home and homeschool stress-free, try to implement these five important habits into your life.

Eat Regularly
Avoid the hangry state by making sure you stay on a consistent schedule and don’t skip meals. While sugary foods and drinks can increase a feeling of anxiousness, nutrients in foods like tuna, tea, eggs, oranges, Greek yogurt, spinach, avocados, and even dark chocolate can help your body balance stress.

Be Active
Physical activity lowers blood pressure and often creates positive feelings of accomplishment and productivity.

Indulge in a Hobby
A hobby can give you something to look forward to on a break or for a self-reward once the day’s work is accomplished. Some hobbies like art and journaling can also help you focus your thoughts and create a peaceful mood.

Talk with Others
You are not alone on the homeschool planet. Connecting with friends and family can often be one of the most successful stress relievers. Homeschool co-ops also can provide valuable support, encouragement, and enrichment.

Sleep Well
Make sure you are giving your body time to recover and recharge each night. Establish a consistent routine, shut off your electronic devices, and close your eyes.
